About this Event

About the event

For many Australians, access to suitable, secure and affordable housing is a challenge. For people with disability, this is amplified.

In collaboration with the Brotherhood of St Laurence and in consultation with people with lived experience, the Melbourne Disability Institute developed a series of guides which provides information and resources on pathways for people with disability to access and maintain a range of housing options.

This webinar introduces the guide and covers some of the recommendations for housing pathways and funding options.

The presentation will be led by the MDI Housing Project Manager, Alicia Yon, and will be followed by questions from the audience.

In this 60-minute webinar, we will discuss:

  • Our five-step plan to finding a suitable house
  • Existing and new information and services about housing for all NDIS-funded participants, framed around eight housing segments (new and existing SDA, supported accommodation, social housing, private rental, own home, family home, and innovative housing models)
  • Existing funding models and services for all NDIS-funded participants

A copy of the Housing Pathways set of guides will be distributed to all registered attendees in advance of the session. From December 9, you will also be able to access the free publication on our website (www.disability.unimelb.edu.au) or you can email us to request a copy.

This event will be Auslan interpreted and live captioned.
