Description

To a backdrop of the stunning Flinders Ranges and set in the Pavilion of the famous Prairie Hotel, this is a rare interactive event curated by chef Hardy Weyrauch. Start with roving entrees inspired by regional produce and the ancient seafloor creatures of the Ediacara fossil site – sea salt and native pepper stingray or oysters with native finger lime caviar. This is accompanied by a presentation from Professor Jim Gehling about the ancient Ediacara fossils and discovery of the Nilpena National Heritage Listed Site. Finally cook a fossil-themed feast using your own individual hot rock – saltbush dukkah crusted lamb backstrap, or even abalone slices with sea parsley – all while you watch the famous Parachilna sunset.
