Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Do you love birds or are you interested in biodiversity in the city? Register for our HollowBlitz now!

In October and November this year the City of Melbourne will be hosting a HollowBlitz to see which birds are nesting in tree hollows in our municipality!

Spring is the perfect time to investigate this as our birds are active and easy to spot. The data collected during this activity will help us better understand and protect nature in the urban environment.

Our HollowBlitz will take place at five parks in the city:

  • Carlton Gardens, Carlton
  • Fawkner Park, South Yarra
  • Fitzroy Gardens, East Melbourne
  • Royal Park, Parkville
  • Stock Route, Kensington

At each park, surveys will be held on the following dates from 5:30-7:30pm:

  • Sunday 15th October
  • Monday 16th October
  • Friday 3rd November
  • Saturday 4th November

You will be guided by survey leaders to help you identify birds and learn more about our local parks.

To register for this free event, select a park of your choice from the ticket options and then the date you want to attend. For each survey night you choose, please only select one park.

It will not be possible to switch between sites or parks on the night due to the distance between our HollowBlitz events. You can however attend as many nights of the HollowBlitz as you wish.

Registrations are recommended so we can notify you if the event needs to be cancelled due to poor weather by 3pm on the day of the event.

Families and children are welcome but quiet observation may be required at times.

To find out more, register for the seminar evening explaining the science: Tree hollows and wildlife in the City of Melbourne.

Feel free to email us at nature@melbourne.vic.gov.au if you have any questions.
