HLLC EOI- Mental Health First Aid Training
Event Information
About this event
Yarra Ranges Council is offering this Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, in partnership with Healesville Living and Learning Centre , to Yarra Ranges residents aged 18+ years who volunteer in the Yarra Ranges community. Eligibility will be checked before registration is confirmed.
MHFA teaches participants how to assist people who are: developing a mental health problem; experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem; or are in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
Why is Council funding this training?
Research shows that the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions have had a significant mental health impact on our communities. As part of Yarra Ranges Council's COVID-19 Social Recovery Plan, Council will fund the roll-out of up to 10 MHFA courses for community members during 2021 to increase the capacity of Yarra Ranges community members to provide mental health first aid to people within their networks experiencing mental health problems.
