Event Details

30 May 6.00pm - 1 June 2018 5pm

To prepare for an energy and carbon-constrained future, leading mineral processing and refining companies have already started to decarbonise.

The Zero Carbon High Temperatures Mineral Processing Forum will bring together companies, researchers, investors and policy makers to scope further action on decarbonising the mineral processing sector. If you are interested in reducing the costs and CO2 emissions associated with mineral processing, you don’t want to miss this.

At the forum we will identify, through expert opinion and discussion, the drivers, barriers and opportunities for decarbonisation, emerging low carbon technologies and high value pathways.

Further details are available on the HiTeMP website.

Low carbon process heat research is led by the Centre for Energy Technology (CET), the University of Adelaide’s research and technology development hub for clean, reliable, affodable energy. Our aim is to reduce energy costs and CO2 emissions and accelerate society’s transition to carbon neutrality. We work with industry to reduce emissions now, by retro-fitting innovative technologies to existing systems, and by developing new carbon neutral and carbon negative technologies to replace existing heat, power and fuel production systems. Our track record includes:

  • 12 thermal energy technologies developed to commercial implementation
  • 170 papers published each year in leading international journals
  • 2 patents registered each year, on average
  • 115 academics, researchers and PhD students across the disciplines of engineering, sciences, business and economics.

The CET is already investigating how to integrate concentrating solar thermal (CST) energy into the highly energy-intensive Bayer alumina process, in a $15.1 million project funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), industry partners including Aloca of Australia Ltd, and research partners.
