A day on the Gold Coast with Surf Life Saving Queensland
Stay safe in the water
Surf lifesavers will show you how you can recognise potential dangers, how to avoid them and how to help someone if they get into trouble.
Learn to surf
Put your new surf safety knowledge into practice. Spend some time in the ocean learning how to catch a wave and how to respond to changes in the water.
Create friendships
After a day in the surf, we’ll spend the afternoon sharing a BBQ together on the beach. Let us know if you have any dietary requirements and we’ll make sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
More program details are available on the BEL Faculty website.
In loving memory of Hemant Govekar
We take our students’ wellbeing seriously and want to ensure you are prepared and confident to safely spend time at our beautiful beaches.
This event will be held in memory of Hemant Govekar, who graduated from UQ in December 2017 with a Master of Business. Tragically, Hemant passed away in an accident while swimming at an unpatrolled beach on Christmas Day last year. Hemant was a proud and outstanding member of our UQ community, as both a hardworking student and an inspiring alumnus. Together, in Hemant’s memory, we hope to make a lasting positive difference and educate as many students as we can about beach safety through the Hit the Waves program.
