About this event
Have you experienced a Crematorium tour before? Maybe not, but have you ever wondered about the history of cremation in Ballarat and the first Victorian regional Crematorium?
Learn about the first cremation in Ballarat and the history of the Ballarat Crematorium with Ballarat Cemeteries CEO Annie De Jong. Demystify the cremation process, and learn about how the cemetery has cared for the community since the Crematorium’s opening in 1958.
CREMATORIUM TOUR - After the talk, there is opportunity to take a 20-minute tour of the Crematorium with Ballarat Cemeteries staff, subject to availability. Please note the following conditions:
- There is a 15-person capacity limit within the Crematorium space, so you will need to obtain a separate ticket to attend the Crematorium tour - these can only be collected upon arrival at the talk.
- Ticket numbers for the Crematorium tour are limited, so early arrival to the talk is recommended.
- You must hold a ticket for the talk to be eligible to join the Crematorium tours.
- Holding a ticket for the talk does not guarantee you a place on the Crematorium tour due to density numbers.
- Tea and coffee will be available for those who wish to wait.
Meet at the Ballarat New Cemetery Crematorium. Bookings essential.
Cost: $5.00 - this will be donated to the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
