Event Information
About this event
Captured: Portraits of crime is an exhibition produced by NSW State Archives that explores the stories of men, women and children incarcerated in NSW gaols from 1870 to 1830.
Orange and District Historical Society has partnered with Orange City Library to bring you guest speaker Wendy Gallagher from NSW State Archives to talk about the exhibition and how to research your family history when a criminal is involved.
Wendy Gallagher is the Senior Advisor, Regional Engagement at NSW State Archives. She has worked with the State Archives Collection for over 30 years and wants everyone to know more about this wonderful collection. Wendy has worked both in the public Reading Room and behind the scenes managing new State Archives as they arrived at NSW State Archives. She has a long association with the Gaol Photographic Description Books which form the basis for the exhibition Captured Portraits of Crime, 1870-1930 having helped index them as a very new archivist.
