About this event

Brian Samuels will deliver a PowerPoint presentation discussing the books and booklets – and their authors – that have focused on the general history of the district.

In this the Society’s 50th birthday year it is appropriate to acknowledge the work of the historians, journalists and others whose work has contributed to the current state of knowledge about the Port district’s past.

Brian Samuels was the Society’s inaugural Honorary Historian from 1973 to 1994 and he will deliver a PowerPoint presentation discussing the books and booklets – and their authors – that have focused on the general history of the district in order of appearance.

Publications that focus more narrowly on the Port and State’s maritime history will receive some attention but will have to wait for another day for more detailed discussion.
