Event description

Description

Hindi, one of the world’s most widely spoken languages, has a firm foothold in Australia. This year’s census revealed the data behind what many in Australia’s Hindi community already knew: the story of Hindi forms a chapter in the story of Australia. Join us for a day in which we explore all aspects of Hindi in Australia. Through a focus on community, creativity, performance—that is, a focus on the genius of Hindi—we will work together to read aloud that Australian story. Topics to be covered include all levels of Hindi education, media and publishing, and Hindi as a link between India and Australia. The workshop includes keynote speakers from Australia’s Hindi community, as well as guests from India, including Mrinal Pande, Aditi Maheshwari, and Varun Grover.
