Our guide will meet you at the coach and travel with you to the village of Emmaville - the hidden gem of the Highlands, a 19th century tin mining boom town, then known as Vegetable Creek, with a population of 7000 including 2000 Chinese. It was the birthplace of the St John’s Ambulance, where Australia’s first medical benefits fund was launched and also noted for the legendary black panther.

2:15PM: Arrive - Emmaville Mining Museum

The museum guide will explain the significance of the extensive mineral displays including the renowned Curnow Collection which includes minerals and historic photographs. You will view the replica miner’s hut and blacksmith’s shop, more than 200 historical photographs and bottle collections and all the nostalgia of the past in Foley’s general store.

As part of the visit, your Museum guide will provide information on the villages’ Heritage buildings and on the 1880’s Ottery tin and arsenic mine at Tent Hill, within just 2km.
