Event description

Description

Learn about a unique part of Australia’s science heritage from a series of guest speakers and panellists that worked on the Hifar reactor. The Hifar reactor operated for nearly 50 years from 1958 and during this time, it made significant contributions to Australian society by producing medical radioisotopes and to our scientific knowledge. Hifar was shut down in 2007 when ANSTO’s new reactor, OPAL, started operation.

This 90 minute presentation will be followed by a morning tea in the ANSTO cafe.

There are also limited opportunities to tour the Hifar reactor at 12:00pm and 1:30pm. Please see the separate registration pages on the ANA and ANSTO websites.
