This is a great place to explore, walk around, hear about history of the bridge and how Dangar got it's name. Dangar Island is the only residential island that has over 280 residents living there. It is a 25 minute ride on the ferry with scenic views of Brooklyn, Wobby Beach & Dangar.
The island has two beaches, cafe, bowling club & greens. It has no cars except the caretaker & small buggies for picking up people when they get off the ferry.
On the day we will be meeting outside the Brooklyn Public Wharf @ 9.45 am. Once boarded the ferry we will travel to Wobby & then Dangar.
The area is very scenic & a great place for taking photo's. One of our pictures was shared by Hornsby Council earlier this year on Instagram.
You will need to bring a hat, sunscreen, wear comfortable shoes (no sandals/thongs), water, snacks, lunch, poncho & cash - Brooklyn or Dangar Island doesn't have an ATM.
There is a cafe near the ferry where you can purchase a cup of coffee/tea/snack.
After the walk I encourage you to come & meet Ann Howard who is a well known author that has been living on the island for over 43 years. You are welcome to visit her and she will provide you with a more indepth history talk, tea/coffee + signed copy book worth $25. She has an extensive collection of photo's of the Dangar family, history of island, Brooklyn Bridge inside the historic "The Pavillion" house formelly owned by Henry Dangar. The cost is $10 per person.
Cost: $15 per person (Guided Tour) for 2 1/2 hours.
Your costs on the day:
Ferry: $7.00 / Concession $3.50 each way
Duration: 2 1/2 hours
The payment covers my time on the day meeting you at Brooklyn Public Wharf, telling you about the history & walk around the island showing beautiful spots that a tourist wouldn't see if they went on their own.
The is a popular walk with people who enjoy history and bush walking, On the day it is important that everyone stay together as a group. If you need to leave earlier please let me know before we board the ferry.
