Here's to the Roots!
Sun. 9 April 2017, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm GMT-05:00
The Dubliner is creating more awareness of Kansas City’s growing music scene. Here’s to the Roots!: A Local Weekly Musician Appreciation Showcase is Kansas City’s first weekly Sunday afternoon concert series to celebrate local musicians and Irish heritage. Kris and Havilah Bruders host the weekly concert series, in collaboration, with the Folk Alliance International, Kansas City Irish Center, KKFI, and Midwest Music Foundation. The concert series is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The Dubliner, and is open to the public.
The four-hour long concert series includes a weekly-featured artist who will play each week with performances by local artists and impromptu Irish dancing fun. Musicians of different genres will collaboratively play together in appreciation of music. The concert series will end with a toast of, “Here’s to the Roots!,” at the end of each week.
Honoring musicians and their impact on our local economy is one of the main emphases of the weekly concert series. It is a place for local artists to showcase their talent while using a state of the art audio system and for the audience to express their musician appreciation. The featured artist will be aired live on KKFI’s River Trade Radio with Kasey Rausch and Mikal Shapiro on Sunday mornings, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.. The Dubliner, Folk Alliance, Kansas City Irish Center, KKFI, and Music Midwest Foundation are committed to building a relationship with our community through creating more awareness of Kansas City’s music scene, supporting local artists by giving musician’s a stage to showcase their artistic talent, and provide a musician appreciation meal as a token of our gratitude for their devoted time. However, it will be limited until we secure a partnership to sustain the weekly musician appreciation meal. The weekly musician meal is a basis of compiling a database of working musicians in Kansas City, comparable to existing databases in Austin, TX and Nashville, TN.
