Event description

Hep C disproportionately affects people experiencing homelessness in the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. As part of the collaborative HepCheck 1-2-3 project addressing hep C in the population experiencing homelessness, Hepatitis NSW is offering a free hep C education session for anyone who works with people living with hep C and is interested in knowing more.

Over one afternoon, get to know the ins and outs of hep C and get the knowledge, skills and tools to meet the hepatitis-related needs of your clients.

This workshop is for those new to the sector with limited knowledge on hep C as well as those familiar with the virus who are looking for a refresher. The focus of the afternoon will be to cover everything you need to know about hepatitis C including:

  • how hep C is transmitted and how to prevent it

  • all you need to know about the revolutionary new hep C treatments

  • how to assist clients in accessing and navigating hep C testing and treatment

  • how best to work with clients living with hep C and effectively meet their needs

  • the physical and social impacts of living with hep C

  • the difference between hepatitis A, B and C

  • creating workplace practices that address stigma and discrimination around the virus

  • building referral pathways and partnerships with other services to get the most appropriate and effective care for your clients around their hep C

If this education would be of use to you and, most importantly, to the people you work with, then please join us for an engaging and interactive afternoon of viral hepatitis education.
