Exercise physiology's final year students are conducting free heart health checks. No treadmills or difficult exercise tests involved!

    About this event

There has never been a more important time to prioritise heart health.

Approximately 2.5 million Australians are at a high risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years, and over half of these have not had an event previously.

Last year we saw people postponing or forgoing a wide variety of services, ranging from emergency treatment of acute conditions, to routine check-ups like Heart Health Checks.

After a period of lockdown, health, family and economic pressures, it’s time to return our attention to the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease.

We are encouraging UNSW Staff to get back to looking after their heart health. A great place to start is by understanding the risk of developing heart disease and keeping up with regular check-ups.

Our Exercise Physiology department is offering the services of our final year B. Ex. Phys. students to do a quick check and provide some information on your results. No treadmills or difficult exercise tests involved! Tests include resting heart rate, blood pressure, waist circumference, body mass index, non-fasting blood glucose and lipids (via finger prick), and some health and physical activity questions of which results will be interpreted and provided to you as a snapshot of your cardiovascular health.
