Event description

New Format, New Topics, New Style of Mentoring

Introducing the 2017 Life Goals & Skills Blast for Western Australia

Supported by the WAFDC

Instead of four separate days, we have made it easier for those who....

  • are from rural or regional areas outside Perth and find it hard to drive in every time

  • can't make Hear For You every wekeend, but one weekend would be awesome

  • just time poor :)

We have a Parent Session too on the Saturday morning and on the Sunday afternoon:

Auslan Interpreter and Live Captioning will be provided for presentations

Mentors communicate either Oral or in Auslan or Bilingual.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This is for current enrolled deaf or hard of hearing High School students (year 7 to year 12). The teenagers will be in groups with other deaf teenagers who use the same communications method like them.

The ticket says it is for 'One deaf/hard of hearing teenager', does this mean I have to purchase a separate tickets for myself (parent) and siblings?

No, if you and your other children wish to accompany your deaf/hard of hearing teenager to the Parent session, you are welcome to do so at no extra cost.

Why the Enrolment Fee

This is the fee to secure your teenager's enrolment to attend the Hear For You Session. The full costs of the session fee is $1,000 and this is covered by the support from the Western Australian Foundation for Deaf Children if your teenager is not covered by the NDIS at the moment.

Can I use my NDIS WA to cover Hear For You

Yes this may be possible but you need to contact our CEO David Brady on david.brady@hearforyou.com.au to work through this.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The closest train station is Victoria Street Railway station - Mosman Park Railway Station - on the Fremantle Line - http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/timetables/details?Train=Fremantle%20Line
