Description

Introducing the Rocky My World and Life Goals & Skills Blast for SHEPPARTON in March & April 2018!

(BENALLA & NORTH)

We are now proud to announce that we are bringing Rock My World and Life Goals & Skills Blast program to Shepparton!

This is the condensed version of our Hear For You Series so instead of 4 separate sessions over 4 months, we are now running it over two Sundays in March and April.

This is perfect for those who:

  • are from the local Shepparton region

  • are from Rural or Regional areas in Victoria

  • want to get a taste of our flagship Victorian Mentoring program and meet our Legendary Mentors

  • BONUS: Lunch will be provided with Tea and Coffee too for Mum and Dad

  • Live Captioning available if requested

Note: If you are on the NDIS, you may be able to use your funding to pay for the program costs.

Rock My World
Will host its FIRST ever Session on Sunday 18th of March

In the meantime Rock My World is all about getting the teens out and about on excursions with other deaf teens like themselves. These Series are a bit more flexible getting the teens to focus on team building and learning. I personally love these sessions as we spend more time out of the classroom environment which the teens usually prefer.

For Rock My World Shepparton, we are are going to GO JUMP.
Entry fee for GO JUMP is $13.00 to be paid in cash on the day at the venue.

We're aiming to host Workshop from 10am - 3pm
LUNCH IS INCLUDED

Life Goals & Skills
Will host its SECOND Session on Sunday 29th of April, Shepparton High School.

Life Goals & Skills is all about mentoring the teens through School. We talk about certain Topics during the Sessions - Being Deaf, Bullying, Schools, Careers, Life Goals, Technology etc. We also play team building games to build their confidence amongst one another. There are what we call "deaf cards" where we can discuss a topic related to the card as a group. This is a favourite among-st the teenagers because I find the teens can relate to one another in terms of their deafness. It sets their mind at ease to know they're not the only ones who have gone through certain situations.

I'll give you an example with the deaf cards

"Public Transport" - There was a time I was taking the train to school, and the train suddenly stopped there was an announcement over the speaker that I couldn't understand. I get anxious having people repeat things for me because I worry I might frustrate them. So I needed to build some confidence to ask someone, to reach out but I didn't know how to. So I just sat on the train and waited for it to eventually start moving again...

This is where we come in and relate to the situation and give the teens some ideas on how to boost their confidence during those situations to never feel like they can't reach out etc.

We're aiming to host the Workshop from 10am - 3pm.
LUNCH IS INCLUDED
