Healthy Waterways Strategy Forum Week

The co-designed Healthy Waterways Strategy sets a long-term vision for managing the health of rivers, wetlands and estuaries in the Port Phillip and Westernport region to protect and improve their environmental and community value.

Now in year three of implementation, these forums will bring us back together to review progress towards strategy targets, share successes, lessons and discuss what to collectively focus on in the coming year.

We recommend you register for the Region-wide sessions and the specific catchment forum relevant to you.

Registration is free but essential to receive the online link.

Monday 8 November 12:30 – 2:00pm | Region-wide intro session, hosted by Craig Reucassel

Find out how implementation of the Healthy Waterways Strategy is tracking, see the annual report card results and hear about the waterway research program.

Tuesday 9 November 10:00 – 12:00pm | Dandenong (and bayside) Catchment Forum

Join this forum to hear how your specific catchment is tracking, the milestone the Living Links project has reached and join the discussion on future focus areas. The Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority will be sharing their recent work in this catchment.

Tuesday 9 November 03:00 – 5:00pm | Yarra Catchment Forum

Join this forum to hear how the Yarra catchment is tracking, meet the new Yarra Riverkeeper and join the discussion on future focus areas. Updates on relevant strategies will help inform the discussion.

Wednesday 10 November 10:00 – 12:00pm | Westernport (and Mornington Peninsula) Catchment Forum

Join this forum to hear how the Westernport and Mornington Peninsula catchment is tracking and join the discussion on future focus areas. Updates on relevant strategies will help inform the discussion.

Wednesday 10 November 03:00 – 5:00pm | Maribrynong & Werribee Catchments Forum

Join this forum to hear how these catchments are tracking, meet the Maribyrnong river officer and join the discussion on future focus areas. Updates on relevant strategies will help inform the discussion.

Thursday 11 November 4:00 – 5:30pm | Region-wide synthesis session, hosted by Craig Reucassel

This final session will bring together what we heard in the catchment forums including an opportunity to pitch future focus areas for each catchment to the Region-wide Leadership Group.

Registration is essential. We will use Zoom to host the forums. Once registered, you will receive individual links to the forums you have selected. Registrations close 2 hours before each event.

About the host

CRAIG REUCASSEL, environmental and climate change documentary maker, writer, and founding member of The Chaser.

Craig Reucassel is the presenter of ABC TV series War on Waste, Fight for Planet A: Our Climate Challenge and Big Weather.

He is an Australian writer and comedian, a river lover and kayaker.

Who should attend?

Anyone who is involved in river, wetland or estuary care and/or management across the Port Phillip and Westernport region is invited. From government to environment groups, we all have a role to play, working together, to improve waterway health.
