Event description

Description

This workshop explores the links between soil, plant and human health , including the implications for our planet. These links are complex and are bound to fascinate anyone with interests in growing food, their health and the wellbeing of this planet. A must for anyone looking for the inspiration to start a home garden. Some topics will include: the soil food web; how minerals and microbes are essential for life and climate change mitigation.

The practical aspects of this workshop will help you get to know your soil and work out the best ways to improve its fertility. We will discuss the main factors influencing soil health, explain and demonstrate simple DIY tests that will assist you in determining how to manage your soil and take a look at what materials you can use to remineralise your soil and invigorate its biology.

The Home Sustainability Program is funded by Shoalhaven City Council and workshops are offered to residents in the Shoalhaven Local Government area only.

If you have any questions regarding your booking please call Council Waste Services on (02) 4429 3129 prior to the day of the workshop.
