Event description

UPDATE: 7th November 2017

Just 1 place left for November's class on the 26th!

This will probably be the last PUBLIC group class for the year with 2018 classes ramping up from January via www.thebeetretreat.com.au

Please email me at jan@thebeetretreat.com.au for details if required.

Remember when what you ate, what was deemed "healthy", seemed so simple?
Before industry and government supported "advertising" with all its inherent agendas and targets?
Before Celebrity Chefs, Book Deals, Reality TV?

You don't want an opinion or the latest fad. You want the facts and truthfully, you just want to know how to make good food that serves your body and mind well, a way of fueling yourself that is enjoyable, simple and sustainable.

The Beet Retreat Cooking Classes, are your gateway. It's 3 hours of creating and 1 hour of eating vibrant, mostly organic and healthy vegan food.

A good part of the lesson's content and style is conversational. We ask. We listen. We discuss. I suggest and recommend, I share. Because when you walk out the door and head back to your own kitchen, you need to have more than just a few ideas and recipes, some tips and techniques, under your belt. You also need a plan to continue on with.

I share some solid resources, the ones I KNOW are the real deal. The ones you'll turn to for years to come. Books, Doco's, Websites including those of long term, highly respected Plant-Based Health Practitioners who have been patiently sharing the info for many years and been getting right.

This class is for up to 8 people, a hands-on experience, under my guidance, for those who wish to have a go rather than observe. I think it's way more fun that way and we all learn better by "doing" than watching. Whether you consider yourself a "disaster" in the kitchen or a seasoned foodie when we start exploring the world of Plant Based foods we all come to the table as one.

We are here to support each other, not judge. Whether you are "leaning in" "crowding out" or diving head first or have been vegan a while but not really eating the healthy, whole food kind of way, I give you a safe place to land.

I promise you, you'll never regret the time you spend here or the things you'll learn ♥

Cost: $80 per person (plus Eventbrite booking fee) includes sit down 3-course meal (value $35)

What will we be cooking in the classes?

"The Basics" classes will cover 1 (or more) from the following categories:

* Breakfasts that can be "grab and go". (from Smoothies to Overnight Oats)

* Hearty, satisfying salads and simple dressings (YES! Salads can be HEARTY!)

* Dairy and Egg Replacers (Nut/Seed Mylks, Cheese, Aioli)

* Nourishing delicious but simple Mains (you won't miss meat for a second!)

* Quick and healthy desserts and treats (Bliss Balls, Nice Cream)

What equipment would I need at home?

Generally, just a simple blender and food processor. A blender should be your first choice if you can only start with one. You can pick them both up quite cheaply now, although for anyone who intends to get into making a lot more of their own healthy foods I highly recommend a better quality version of one, or the other, or both (or a Thermomix)

Quite a few of these recipes are simply hand mixed and prepared the "old fashioned way". Keeping it simple is often the very best way to go!

I am Gluten Free/have dietary sensitivities. Does this class cater for me?

While most of the dishes in this particular class are "accidentally" GF it is not specifically set up that way.

I will do fully GF free (and "other" allergen free) classes by appointment, but this class tends to be general in nature so not all dishes will be suitable for those with allergies. All ingredients will be disclosed during the class obviously, and possible substitutes discussed but that particular dish may not be suitable for you. I need to be informed before the event if a participant has a specific allergy and we can then discuss our options.

What is the minimum number for these classes to proceed?

These particular classes, at the $85 rate, will proceed with a minimum of 3 people. Every one of them has sold out so far though!

Are there minimum age requirements to attend at The Beet Retreat Cooking Classes?

Generally, over 15 please OR contact me directly to organise a group class for over 10yo's

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Ample parking at The Beet Retreat. Nearest rail is Hurstbridge, 13 minutes drive away.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email jan@thebeetretreat.com.au or phone on 0407 967 462
