CURRICULUM OUTLINE

9am- 4pm, Queenstown Events Centre.

Registration from 8:30 am.

9:00-9:15. CHAMPIONS ARE EVERYWHERE How ‘ordinary’ people became champions. Maybe you can too.

9:15-9:30. The Five Lydiard Training Principles.

9:30-9:45. The Energy System Pyramid and its fundamentals

9:45-10:15 Understanding Muscle Fibre Types and their dominant fuel systems: learn about the size principle of neuromuscular recruitment and why it’s SO IMPORTANT.

10:15–10:45 Best ways to prescribe HEART RATE INTENSITIES and develop aerobic systems safely.

10:45-11:00 Light Refreshments

11:00 -12:00 PM: Nutrition for endurance. Fat-adapted eating; the latest science for endurance athletes on fat metabolism and its benefits at all intensities.With Dr Mark Cucuzella.

12:00-1:00 PM: LUNCH

1:00-1:30 PM. How to best train each of the muscle fibre types and their relative intensities: most ideal workout types

1:30-2:00 PM. The alactic system; the backdoor to true power and athleticism: the strength training pyramid.

2:00-2:30 PM. Putting together a season plan specific to your event, based on the Energy System Pyramid.

Refreshments available during afternoon session

2:30-3:00 PM. SUCCESSFUL TRIATHLON TRAINING. Athens Gold Medallist Hamish Carter’s surprisingly simple programme.

3:30- 5:00 PM: Tying it all together once more, with questions answered.
