Note: Only current enrolled students at The ANU are eligible to register and attend. Registration will require your Name, email, mobile phone number and University ID Number.
Start Semester 2 with a joint initiative between ANU Sport and the ANU Counselling Centre. The Healthy Body Healthy Mind Program will allow you to try different types of physical exercise, develop your knowledge of nutrition and an introduction to mindfulness.
Research shows that the level of our physical activity can have a direct and very influential impact on our state of mind and how we handle our stresses. There is also strong evidence that practicing mindfulness improves both mental and physical health.
Healthy Body Healthy Mind Program is a five week program which runs from 12:30 -1.30pm on Wednesdays. You need to register a ticket for each of the 5 weeks please:
2 August: Intro and circuit – ANU Sports Dojo
9 August: Introduction to Mindfulness - Carol Beynon ANU Counsellor
16 August: Beginner Boxing – Willows Grass Area (next to Gym)
23 August: Nutrition and Exercise - ANU Health Service Nurse
30 August: Yoga or Stretching Session – Blue Room (Upstairs Blg 18)
The exercise sessions will be held by ANU Sport and facilitated by the staff there. Meet at the locations each week as listed above. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a towel and drink bottle, and your completed pre exercise screening form available on the Counselling Centre website. Note - Shoes will be removed on the DOJO Mats.
The Introduction to Mindfulness session, session will be run at ASLC, Level 2, John Yencken Building 45.
The Nutrition and Exercise session will be held at the ANU Counselling Centre, Upstairs Blg 18 North Road
