Description

Join us for the inaugural Health Research Awards evening, where we will honour outstanding achievements in an area of research that impacts lives and communities like no other.

The evening will consist of three parts:

  • The Impact Awards, recognising achievements in health research

  • The Scholarly Plus awards, connecting outstanding medical students with clinical academic mentors in key areas of health research

  • A Public Masterclass, discussing key topics in cardiovascular disease.

More details are provided below.

IMPACT AWARDS
The inaugural UWA Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences Impact Awards will celebrate the achievements of emerging and senior health researchers whose cutting-edge discoveries are revolutionising health treatments in Australia and around the world.

The Impact Awards are supported by the Ada Bartholomew Medical Research Trust, established through the bequest of Mrs Ada Bartholomew.

SCHOLARLY PLUS AWARDS
The Scholarly Plus program is a novel initiative aimed at securing a strong pipeline of future health research champions. These awards link outstanding medical students with a project in a priority area of health research, under the supervision of a clinical academic mentor. The student recipients will be announced on the evening, with the 2020 Scholarly Plus academic mentors being:

  • Professor Christobel Saunders (cancer research) supported by the Sigurd and Elsie Ohman Medical Research Fund, and the bequests of Ms Dulcie Smith Suraski and Mr Albert Sparrow
