Description

The Coroners Court of Victoria hosts quarterly information sessions for health and medical professionals to educate these practitioners about the coronial investigation process and their obligations under the Coroners Act 2008 (Vic).


Topics and Presenters

The topics discussed include:

  • Reporting a death to the coroner
  • The forensic medical and scientific investigation
  • The specialist health and medical death investigation process
  • Inquest and recommendations

Attendees will hear presentations from a forensic pathologist, a coroner, Victoria Police and Coroners Prevention Unit case investigators specialising in health and medical-related deaths. Please note this session does not cover psychiatry and mental health.


Please allow extra time to go through court security screening at our entrance. A list of prohibited items can be found at the bottom of this page.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Car Parking There is limited metered street parking available in Kavanagh Street and nearby Moore Street. Casual public car parking is also available at:

  • The corner of Kavanagh Street and Power Street. (Entry via Kavanagh Street)
  • Wilson Parking - Freshwater Place, Southbank. (Entry via Southbank Boulevard)
  • Wlson Parking - 2 Riverside Quay, Southbank. (Entry via Southgate Ave)
  • The Arts Centre in Sturt Street, Southbank.

Public Transport

  • Train

The nearest train station to VIFM is Flinders Street station. Allow 10 minutes to walk to VIFM.

  • Tram

The closest tram stop is directly outside the Melbourne Recital Centre (Stop number 17). Coming from the city, catch Tram no. 1. VIFM is a short walk from the Melbourne Recital Centre.

VIFM is also a 5 minute walk from Tram Stop 16 (corner Southbank Boulevard and St Kilda Road) located in front of the National Gallery of Victoria. This stop is serviced by routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64,67, 72.

  • Bus

Melbourne Bus Link operates three routes along Southbank Boulevard: Route 216, 219 and 220.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

No. The registration/ticket is non-transferrable.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. You may logon to EventBrite online booking system to update your registration information.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes. You have to bring your printed ticket with the correct attendee information to the event. Alternatively, you can also show us the mobile ticket stored on your mobile devices upon admission.

What is the refund policy?

A full refund is ONLY allowed if the cancellation is made on EventBrite online booking system 7 days before the event. No other cancellation method will be entertained.

Can my work colleague use my ticket if I am unable to attend?

Yes. However, you must change the name on the ticket to the new attendee's details and notify the organisers by emailing informationsession@coronerscourt.vic.gov.au.


The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

No. The name on the registration/ticket MUST match the attendee. Please logon to EventBrite to edit the ticket buyer information.


If I have a prohibited item will it be confiscated?

Yes, all prohibited items will be confiscated by security officers upon entering the builidng and will not be returned.
