Description

Teachers, parents, and other professionals are invited to join us for a day of Health and Well Being in the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Melbourne Gardens. Through hands on outdoor workshops, discover ways to support your teaching and learning through fostering a sense of wellbeing in nature.

Experience a moving and powerful Tanderrum Ceremony led by an Aboriginal guide to acknowledge the sacred land on which we walk, learn and play.

Search for beauty and truth with creative and sensory nature based activities

Foster a sense of agency and empower students to take risks in a forest schools workshop based on inspirational and world leading practice

Discover relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety and tension by participating in a guided yoga nidra session led by a qualified instructor.

Participate in a Smiling Mind workshop Smiling Mind believes that to make a huge impact we need to provide young people with the skills and presence of mind to cope with stress, relationship difficulties, anxiety and the pressures of a busy life through mindfulness meditation. This workshop focuses on understanding mindfulness and how it relates to you personally. You’ll also learn about the outcomes of the Smiling Mind Education Program Research Project, and how Smiling Mind works in the classroom.

Places are limited to 30 people.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The best way to get to Melbourne Gardens is to use public transport.

Trams from Flinders Street Station run along St Kilda Rd. Tram numbers are 3,5,6,16,64,67,72 Stop 19 Shrine or Stop 20 Domain Interchange.

There is limited free parking along Birdwood Avenue with 2 hour and 4 hour metered parking along Birdwood Avenue. If you bring your own car, bring coins just in case.

Another option is to park at Federation Square and walk up to the Gardens along St Kilda Rd - this will take approximately 25 minutes.

Meeting Location

Meet at Observatory House (two-story, red brick), near the Visitor Centre, Melbourne Gardens at 9:15am

Enter Melbourne Gardens from Birdwood Ave, across the road from the Shrine, and look for the Visitor Centre next to Jardin Tan. Coffee is available to purchase from Jardin Tan.

What can I bring into the event?

Please wear comfortable clothing for gentle yoga practice followed by a meditation, outdoors.

BYO hat, sunscreen and water bottle.

Please bring a blanket for the guided yoga as body temperature can drop.

Participants will be invited to share stories practice in a facilitated session.
