Event description
Colossus Records Presents: Headlice, GRMLN & Big Blue Eyes at The Brightside!

About this Event

Headlice:

Headlice are a for-profit criminal organisation who turned their interests towards music in early 2020 to devise a cunning plan to overtake the record industry. Based in Brisbane, their snotty brand of synth punk can be blamed on the Spits, Jay Reatard, and Ausmuteants. Although a relatively new band, Headlice have begun making a name for themselves locally through high-energy live shows and allegedly mugging fans outside gigs.

GRMLN:

Park was born in Kyoto, Japan and raised in Southern California. Park started recording and producing music during his early years under the moniker GRMLN. Even though the project started off as an experiment for recording, Park's songs quickly picked up internet buzz, getting written up by many popular music blogs in the US and the UK, including DIY Magazine.

Park was signed to Carpark Records (Cloud Nothings, Beach House, Toro Y Moi) during his first year in college (at the age of 18) with the release of Park's first EP Explore. GRMLN's first album, Empire, was recorded at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco, California. GRMLN has since then self-released a myriad of records slowly gaining his reputation as a prolific artist.

GRMLN is currently based in Australia with a backing band as support to bring the songs to a live setting.

Big Blue Eyes:

Big Blue Eyes is the project behind 19-year-old Ryan Smart, a Sunshine Coast multi-instrumentalist and DIY producer. A die-hard music fan from an early age, Ryan blends his heavy influence of Australian indie-rock staples with his knack for groove and hooks, to bring his own fresh and invigorating sound to the table. Nifty bass lines, driving guitars, and uniquely chill yet driven vocal style all comes together in his DIY recordings, that are entirely self-engineered and produced. After releasing the nihilistic sing-along ‘Conform’ in June, he then followed up with the woozy and groovy track ‘Granted’ in September. Now backed with an exciting live band (featuring Ethan Paddison, Paige Cardew & Mikaela Swan), the live show promises what is already evident in Big Blue Eyes early releases; an energetic, emotive, and dance worthy set of indie-rock goodness.
