Wild Thing Presents

HE DANCED IVY | BRISBANE

SINGLE/VIDEO LAUNCH

With Special Guests: Ebonivory, The Stranger & Inovo

Genre mashing, alt-rock acrobats, He Danced Ivy, have earned a cult reputation with their eclectic blend of hybrid rock genres driven manically forward by furious drumming, powerful vocals and a spine tingling, electric atmosphere.

The Brisbane via Coffs Harbour locals are hot off releasing their sophomore EP ‘Optimistic Cynic’, a furiously quirky six track exploration of the inner workings of the modern misfit. Focusing heavily on developing a unique approach to the record, the group threw conventional songwriting right out the window in favour of building tracks that directly represented their themes. The painful cycle of addiction is exposed through sprawled, harrowing breakdowns and black metal intensity only to bloom into gorgeous, post-rock motifs, contagious grooves and anthemic group choruses. Hailing from Ballarat in rural Victoria, Australia, Ebonivory creates an engaging mosaic of raw emotion, complex rhythmic devices, and prismatic melody. Formed in 2014 by prodigious composer, multi- instrumentalist and lead vocalist Charlie Powlett, this world class 5-piece ensemble employs a unique distillation of alternative rock, progressive metal, post-hardcore and modern punk, delivering a breathtaking performance that unifies musicians, melomaniacs, and casual listeners alike.

Kicking off with a whirlwind performance at Australia’s acclaimed PROGFEST festival, alongside international heavyweights The Ocean, Monuments and Skyharbor, 2019 is set to be the year of Ebonivory. In affiliation with management at Wild Thing Presents (home of Caligula’s Horse & Circles), Ebonivory will be touring Australia and beyond; supporting some of the world’s premier progressive acts, including Dead Letter Circus on their forthcoming Persistence Australian Tour which takes place between March and May 2019.

With support from Victoria's Ebonivory, plus local prog-sters, The Stranger & Inovo, the show will present some of the best of Australia's underground alternative scene. Tickets on sale now!
