Event description

Description

UTS Hatchery is a distinctive extra-curricular program designed to help students forge their own future through entrepreneurship.

Join us from 4:00pm on Friday 6th October for the final showcase of the projects developed this session.

This time round we have engaged over 70 talented students from all corners of the university to collaborate on an opportunity space they're passionate about solving. Plus, we piloted our Hatchery DIY offering - a self-directed entrepreneurial education program that provides a blended model of online learning and face to face interaction.

From the future of trust in journalism to the applications of brain-computer interfaces, sustainability in the takeway food industry and social inclusion for the elderly - we're excited for our sixteen teams to share their diverse innovations.

Here's a sneak peak of what to expect from our SBS Small Business Secrets telly feature.

Pop in around your schedule to hear from some of the finest studentpreneurs of UTS. After presentations it's party time as we celebrate our sixth cohort of Hatchery graduates!

Please RSVP as spots are limited.

Industry Panel:

  • Julie Demsey, General Manager of SBE Australia

Julie is the General Manager of SBE Australia, which runs the Springboard Enterprises Accelerator program that supports female lead tech companies in their efforts to grow and scale. Taking on this role felt like a natural fit for Julie who has mentored women working in technology throughout 20 years working in the Silicon Valley. It has always been important to her to support those coming behind her to help them navigate their careers, companies and to reach their full potential.

Julie moved to Sydney last year wanting to have a hand in shaping the Australian startup community and help guide it in a direction of developing happy, healthy, sustainable companies. She has past experience starting her own tech companies, working for small start-ups as well as large technology companies. She also continues to mentor women in San Francisco and Sydney.

  • Matthew Childs, Founder and CEO of Winestash and Kidz That Move

Matthew Childs is a serial entrepreneur who participated the pilot cohort of the Hatchery program. He has studied at The University of Technology Sydney, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. With a passion for innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship, Matthew has founded two successful companies Wine Stash and Kidz That Move.
