International Women's Day will have a local Launceston voice to bring into focus the women, young and old who play a significant role in the Launceston farmers’ market community.
Bring along a picnic rug or some camp chairs, and treat the family to dinner and watch a performance by local talent Den. on Harvest's SOMA Community Stage before the motion pictures begin! The feature film, Ride Like A Girl, celebrates the story of the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. Stories like that of Michelle Payne, are part of the fabric of our community and are an inspiration to all women and girls to strive for excellence.
Hear also the stories of our farmers, the scientists, chefs, cidermakers and volunteers who are the stallholders at the Harvest Launceston Community Farmers’ Market. As a weekly farmers' market, Harvest is dedicated to finding new ways for its members, local producers, farmers and food artisans to bring their food to the local population.
The festival will showcase a range of Tasmanian food and beverages and support our local food van economy. The Festival of Women is only the beginning.... watch this space as Harvest Launceston blows up the movie screen to bring locals great cinema and entertainment that celebrates all things Tasmanian on the screen and stage voted for by locals to receive a Great Regional Cities grant.
