Description

Please note - this event is now being held at the Wheeler Centre, 176 Little Lonsdale Street Melbourne

Digital technology is rapidly changing the way we live our lives. With an app for (almost!) everything, virtual communities connecting people like never before, and evolving ways of collecting data – there are some incredible opportunities for us all to seize. But with lots possibilities, comes lots of questions.

  • How do you find out what’s available, and what people are already doing?
  • What are the risks?
  • What will the ‘next big thing’ be?

Join our panel of experts as we discuss these and other questions to unlock the world of digital technology, and how we can use it to enhance health promotion programs and research.

Our expert panel includes:

  • Professor Deborah Lupton from the University of Canberra providing an overview of how technology is being used in health promotion, some of the opportunties, limitations and important factors that need to be considered when using technology in health promotion.
  • Professor Emmanuel Kuntsche from the Centre for Alcohol Policy and Research will describe how technology has been used in research and discuss the opportunties and limitations of using technology in research.
  • Dr Cassandra Wright from the Burnet Institute will discuss her experience in scaling-up a technology-based intervention and explore the barriers and opportunities of translating research using technology to the real world.
