Event description

Description

HARMONY DAY is a national event that celebrates Australias cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

As part of this event, Barkly Regional Arts announces the communities annual DESERT HARMONY FESTIVAL program with guest speakers and how the local community can get involved.

The healdine act is Darwin based singer, Caiti Baker, a vocalist and front woman raised on the sounds that birthed popular music. Born into a household filled with vinyl, CDs and tapes of blues, soul, gospel, jazz, big band and rock & roll, Caiti’s father, a blues musician himself, made sure that she was raised amongst music. Writing songs about what she knows and feels and singing with her soul, Caiti unashamedly performs the hell out of them.

There will be multicultural dining to feast on and everyone is asked to wear the colour orange.

Orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.
