About this event

Begin the evening with sparkling wine and light refreshments, a welcome by Jo Ritale, Director Collections and a short introductory talk about the exhibition by co-curator Bethan Johnson.

Meet artist Deanna Hitti, hear about her ambitious, room-sized installation of printed cyanotypes and listen to Sarah Spencer talk about hacking a vintage domestic knitting machine to stitch the extraordinary StarGazing artwork.

The Handmade Universe exhibition explores how we connect with universal themes of place and identity through the act of making by hand. New commissions by artists, designers and makers combine craft and technology in often unexpected ways, alongside 68 rare and remarkable items from State Library Victoria and other collections.

Attendees will be able to purchase the exhibition catalogue at a 10% discount.

You are welcome to invite one guest to the event.
