Event description

Description

Are you interested in finding innovative, creative and attractive things to do with materials that would otherwise end up in the bin? Do you have old wires, twines and plastic bags hanging round your house?

By attending the Hand Weaving and Basket Making workshop you can reduce the amount of materials you send to landfill.

During the 4 hours, South Coast fibre artist Lissa de Sailles will demonstrate and teach a number of weaving techniques. You will learn how to weave with:

  • bail ties
  • electrical wire
  • bicycle tyre inner tubes
  • plastic bags

The workshop suits beginners and improvers. Participants will need a reasonable degree of manual dexterity and be over 15 years of age. Please note there will be a 30 minute break for lunch (please bring your own lunch as lunch is not provided)

The Home Sustainability Program is funded by Shoalhaven City Council and workshops are offered to residents in the Shoalhaven Local Government area only.

If you have any questions regarding your booking please call Council Waste Services on (02) 4429 3129 prior to the day of the workshop.
