Description

Hacking up the Stack! Australia's first OpenStack Cloud Application Hackathon.

The clock is ticking. One teammate whiteboards while another digs through documentation. The best idea wins, but everyone learns. OpenStack Hackathons bring together hundreds of technologists in a supportive learning environment to practice their skills with the latest cloud tools.

OpenStack Australia Hackathon: Australia’s first, and the third worldwide OpenStack Cloud Application Hackathon. A 3 day community driven event where participants are invited to hack up the stack and create the best cloud application using the worlds leading open cloud platform.

OpenStack Application Hackathons are intended to educate students, developers, designers and entrepreneurs who are passionate about innovation, cloud and open source. Participants will learn how to build and migrate applications to distributed cloud environments, as well as showcase the diverse use cases for OpenStack. Participants are invited to join as an individual, as part of a team, or as a mentor. Register your team today, or register as an individual and we will allocate you to a team.

What is included in my pass?

All mentors and participants will receive a free pass to the Sydney OpenStack Summit (valued at $1200), as well as food, drinks, swag and the chance to network with some of the most talented members of the OpenStack community. The event will be held in Doltone House within the Australian Technology Park. The site is serviced by both Sydney Trains via Redfern Station and Sydney Buses between CBD and Marrickville Metro, as well as a dedicated cycleway. Parking is available at ATP, however you will need to book a parking space online prior to arriving. Please note there is limited casual parking onsite - booking ahead is required. What can I bring into the event?

The Hackathon will take place over the duration of 40 hours. To make sure you have the necessary energy to complete the challenge, we will provide meals, snacks and drinks for the full duration of the Hackathon. Bring your sleeping bag and camp out to take in the full Hackathon experience!

What support will be provided for participants?

Learn how to use OpenStack and its APIs in our free training sessions during the month leading up to the Hackathon. Coaches come from renowned technology companies around the world. Videos will be accessible for those unable to attend, but remember you must register to access pre training activities. During the event you will have the help of mentors who will advise you during the development of your application. Mentors and judges are part of the Australian developer community. Dedicated support will be provided via a live Slack support channel. Teams can participate remotely, so even if you can’t make it in person you will still have full access to our Hackathon mentors.
