About this Event
Are you interested in creating a Habitat Garden to attract native wildlife?
Hobsons Bay City Council is looking for 30 households from across the municipality to participate in this exciting program! Learn about our local flora and fauna and how your garden can become a stepping stone for native wildlife.
Important Dates
Workshop 1: Overview and preparation (Online event via Zoom)
Wednesday 24th February 7.00-8.30pm
This event will provide an overview of habitat gardening. Participants will learn basic landscape design techniques to create a successful habitat garden.
Workshop 2: Design your habitat garden (Online event via Zoom)
Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th or Thursday 18th March (1.5 hour session at 5.00-6.30pm or 7.00-8.30pm, groups TBC after Workshop 1)
This event will be a free group design consultation with a landscape designer. Participants will present their habitat garden design and receive personalised feedback to assist with plant selection.
Optional Event: Newport Lakes Native Nursery Tour
Saturday 27th February 9.30am and 11.30am (subject to change in accordance to Covid-19 restrictions)
This event will provide a tour of a native nursery, assistance with appropriate plant selection and discussion of indigenous plants.
Plant collection: Participants will collect up to 30 free plants to start their habitat gardens approximately 4 weeks after Workshop 2.
No experience is necessary and this is a free program, however you must be a resident of Hobsons Bay and are required to attend all events.
