Event description

Description

The Guthoo (we are one) project is a community led participatory action research project to bring collective change to the lives of Aboriginal youth in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region.

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet engaged Koya Aboriginal Corporation to investigate the perceptions and experiences of Aboriginal youth in the region, utilizing community art workshops and a comprehensive youth survey.

The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Aboriginal youth became Junior Community Engagement Researchers, supported by local Kinship Champions.

Taking on the role of researchers, together with the supportive relationships formed during the art workshops and the survey, has led to positive changes in the lives of the individual participants, the Guthoo Youth.

The Youth Summit is an opportunity to meet the Guthoo Youth, and to experience firsthand their hopes and fears, and the strength and resilience that has moved the Guthoo Youth to find meaningful solutions for themselves and their peers.

The event aims to provide real life experience and practical advice from the Guthoo Aboriginal Youth of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region.

Please RSVP before Friday 29 September. Dietary requirements should be forwarded to Tannielle McHugh tannielle@koya.org.au

Office: (08) 64249212
