Event description

Description

Many of the staff at Auburn Hospital observe Ramadan as a key religious event in the Islamic calendar. Although Islamic regulations have exempted those with chronic conditions and illnesses from the obligation to fast, some staff with diabetes (or their family members) may be planning to fast during Ramadan.

To help someone who may be wishing to fast during Ramadan manage their diabetes, Dr Ahmed Hussein from the Diabetes and Endocrinology team at Blacktown Hospital is giving a special presentation. The presentation is based on the international Diabetes and Ramadan Practical Guidelines which has been developed in consultation with clinical and religious authorities.

Dr Ahmed Hussein is an Endocrinology and Diabetes Registrar at Blacktown Hospital. As a physician, his main focus is helping people from different cultures understand how to manage their diabetes.
