CLINICAL SKILLS WORKSHOP FOR VICTORIAN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES (DHHS) FUNDED Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) WORKERS

Turning Point has been funded by DHHS to deliver a series of workshops designed to up skill the AOD workforce in current best practice in Intake and Assessment, Counselling Skills, Group Skills, Recovery Oriented Practice, Co-occurring Disorders and Current Issues in AOD. These workshops provide an opportunity for current workers in the AOD sector to either learn new skills or consolidate/update existing skills in these areas. Workers will be able to choose whether to attend one or two or more of these workshops depending on their professional development needs and those of the services in which they work.

Places are limited in these free workshops, so all participants are requested to provide their Manager’s contact details during registration. Managers will be contacted if participants fail to attend training without providing notice.

Group Skills Workshop for AOD Workers, 2 day workshop.

Tuesday 6th & Wednesday 7th March 2018, 9.15am - 4.00pm

Trainers: Sandra Roeg and Sharon Patterson

With an increased focus on providing a range of treatment approaches that include day rehabilitation programs for people facing difficulties with methamphetamines and other drugs, group skills have become a vital AOD worker requirement.

This skills based and experiential two (2) day workshop funded by the Department of Health and Human Services for those working in the public Alcohol and Drug sector, aims to provide participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to plan, manage and evaluate group work relevant to the AOD sector.

Sandra Roeg and Sharon Patterson have extensive educational and clinical experience and will facilitate the program. Sandra has taught AOD group skills in the Turning Point Graduate Program, as well as facilitated a range of therapeutic groups for people with AOD problems. Sharon has had clinical experience in running therapeutic groups for a range of people with AOD problems in both residential and outpatient settings.

Who should attend? DHHS funded AOD Workers Victoria.

Lunch: A light lunch including a vegetarian selection is provided.
