Banksias Under Snow is a visual art exhibition and performance by GreyWing Ensemble, which is touring to several locations and has its Ellenbrook chapter at the Ellenbrook Art Gallery during May, 2022.

The exhibition can be viewed from 1 May – 31 May in the gallery, open from10am - 5pm Wednesdays to Saturdays and 1-5pm on Sundays.

Please join us for one very special performance in the gallery by GreyWing ensemble as part of this touring program, which features sounds unique to Ellenbrook as the ensemble works with the natural environment and the community of Ellenbrook.

The exhibition is part of a workshop “Notating the environment” exploring interaction between live performers and field recordings and a performance of the exhibited scores by GreyWing Ensemble, in which community members are invited to learn and participate with the artists.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:

Featuring work by: Leah Barclay, Ryan Burge, Jameson Feakes, Cat Hope, Terri Hron, Alice Humphries, Kirsten Hudson, Samuel Gillies, Josten Myburgh, Elisabeth Schimana, Rebecca Erin Smith, Vanessa Tomlinson, Sze Tsang, Lindsay Vickery, Jocelyn Wolfe and Aaron Wyatt.

This is an exhibition exploring the sounds and shapes of nature through a series of recent works by Western Australian and international composers who have created works interacting with field recordings, organic, visual and tactile forms of the environment though video, graphical and sculptural scores for the Western Australian music ensemble GreyWing.

The exhibition is free to attend and is also viewable at the time of the concert.

ABOUT THE CONCERT:

GreyWing Ensemble is: Kirsten Smith on flute, Lindsay Vickery on clarinet, Catherine Ashley on harp and Jameson Feakes on electric guitar.

Please feel free arrive early to enjoy the accompanying exhibition and a complementary drink on arrival, the bar opens at 6pm.
