Green Square library and plaza site tour - rescheduled
Event Information
Description
Please join us at the Green Square library and plaza for a rescheduled construction site tour and refreshments.
Due to unforseen operational reasons, we unfortunately had to cancel our original tour in June.
The tour is an opportunity for you to see progress on our new library and public plaza in the heart of the new town centre. You’ll see the open-air amphitheatre, sunken garden, glass entry triangle and 7-storey tower taking shape. We expect the library and plaza to open in mid-2018.
There will be a Welcome to Country and Lord Mayor Clover Moore will speak to the community at 2.45pm.
We are pleased to announce that Stewart Hollenstein and Colin Stewart Architects will be there to speak about the design of the library and plaza.
Michael Thomas Hill and Indigo Hanlee from Lightwell will also be onsite to show us how they are using local weather patterns and tidal information to create High Water, a digital public artwork to be installed in the plaza
The meeting point will be on Ebsworth Street, the first main street built in inner Sydney for more than a century. There will be a registration tent and refreshments on arrival at the south end of Ebsworth Street.
Please wear trousers, long-sleeved tops and sturdy closed toe shoes to ensure your safety. Tours are free, but RSVPs are essential.
We will contact you if we have to cancel the tour due to wet weather.
