Event description

Description

During the past decade, humans have produced more plastic than was produced in the entire 20th century.

UQ staff and students are invited to the Green Office’s screening of the latest environmental documentary ‘A Plastic Ocean’ during UQ Sustainability Week.

The film features a passionate group of scientists, ocean activists, and adventurers who are on a mission to investigate the devastating consequences of plastic pollution on the Earth’s oceans.

What they discover is less than pretty – gyre after gyre - all filled with tonnes of damaging plastic waste. This debris is mistakenly ingested by wildlife and is posing a threat to marine populations around the world.

Beyond that, this documentary also brings to light the impact of plastic on human communities and health, and provides real-world solutions to our disposable culture.

Shocking, educational, and inspiring – ‘A Plastic Ocean’ is not to be missed!
