Event description

Description

After a highly successful inaugural season, the NSW Lawyers Orchestra in its second season, will perform some of the best film music of all time.

The most popular and recognisable film scores in cinematic history by composer John Williams will be featured:

Star Wars: Suite

Schindler’s List: Three pieces

Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Raiders March (Indiana Jones)

Harry Potter: The Symphonic Suite

While skilled in a variety of 20th century compositional idioms, Williams’ most familiar style is inspired by the late 19th century’s large-scale orchestral music – in the style of Tchaikovsky or Richard Wagner’s compositions.

The orchestra will perform the Ascent of the Rock (Ascent Music) by Bruce Smeaton from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock, a famous 1975 Australian mystery/drama film. Composer Bruce Smeaton may be personally involved in the concert.

The orchestra will play the jazz-idiom theme, The Pink Panther, by Henry Mancini and the Love Theme from one of the greatest films of all time, The Godfather, by Nino Rota.

The very beautiful Gabriel’s Oboe from the film The Mission will feature; by Ennio Morricone, who is one of the most versatile, experimental and influential composers of all time.

The orchestra will be perform the impressive Suite of the Last of the Mohicans by Trevor Jones, combining acoustic and electronic sounds.

UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESS AT THIS EVENT.  THERE IS ONLY A SET OF STAIRS WITH THREE PLATFORMS.
