Event description

Description

Splash and its major partners, the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE Water Smart Cities), the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities (CRCWSC) and Sydney Water will be hosting a forum to provide an overview of work progressing in the water smart cities space across Greater Sydney.

There has been a lot of activity across Greater Sydney and this is your opportunity to hear about the great work that is being done about transitioning our city to a water smart city. Participants will hear from four great speakers each giving presentations that provide an overview of the programs they are developing and the outputs of a series of workshops and seminars that were recently held.

First you will hear from the DPE Water Smart Cities team who will give an overview of their two year program, the opportunities mapping process they have been undertaking, the case studies they have identified and the highly anticipated outputs of their program.

Next you will hear from the City of Sydney who hosted a Water Sensitive Sydney Summitt and the CRCWSC that facilitated a Greater Sydney Visioning and Transitioning process. Both events involved bringing together high level representatives from state and local government, businesses, developers, research institutions and peak industry associations together. For the Water Sensitive Sydney Summitt the purpose was to discuss the challenges of water management across Greater Sydney and how these needed to be overcome in the case of the Visioning and Transitioning process to articulate a water sensitive vision for Greater Sydney and the steps we need to take to achieve that vision.

Finally you will hear from the Sydney Water Development Infrastructure Portfolio Services (DIPS) team who recently hosted a developer forum to better understand how Sydney Water can work better with industry, NSW government, councils and other partners to service a growing city. You will hear what Sydney Water stakeholders needs are and how Sydney Water is responding.

Following the presentations there will be three one-hour concurrent breakout sessions whereby we will enlist your help. The first session to be run by DPE will focus on what does 'Integrated Water Management' mean to us living and working in Greater Sydney. The second and third breakout sessions will be looking at the priorities from the Water Sensitive Sydney Summitt and Greater Sydney Visioning and Transitioning reports and how actions might be progressed through local and state government.

There is no cost to Splash Partners. Splash Partners include staff from Sydney Water, Department of Environment and Planning, CRCWSC NSW Members, Blacktown City Council, Northern Beaches City Council and Central West Environment and Waterways Alliance.

All other registrations are $36pp (including fees and GST). This forum is expected to fill fast so be sure to register your seat now.
