Description

A FREE community event organised by the Southern Grampians Shire Council for local event organisers, community groups, volunteers, businesses, service providers and those working in the events space from across all Shires in South West Victoria.

A host of talented guest speakers will share their advice and expertise on planning, marketing, funding and developing events within the region:

Pieter Badenhorst, President of the Music In The Vines festival held at Suffoir Vineyard in Macarthur, will share what he’s learnt from starting up the annual event, relating this to a strategic approach all event organisers can take to planning and organising their events.

Marketing specialist Mel Stewart, from HyperSocial in Geelong, will cover the latest social media marketing trends that event organisers must be using to shout about their events and gain all-important engagement and event attendance.

Liz Mecham, experienced grant writer and event organiser, will shed light on ways event organisers can implement different fundraising strategies to finance their events and become financially sustainable in the future.

John Young, President of Port Fairy Folk Festival, which just celebrated its 41st year, will share insights from his 8 years of being on the festival committee, particularly in relation to building such a successful festival with a strong management framework and loyal volunteer base.

The afternoon program will feature interactive break-out sessions to develop the skills of event organisers in regards to specific challenges.

In ‘Planning a Successful Event’, Pieter will get down to the nuts and bolts of planning and organising a successful event, providing a comprehensive checklist for event organisers to ensure they feel well-equipped and confident.

In ‘Hot Apps to Create Visual Content for Digital Marketing ’ Mel will run through her pick of the best Apple and Android apps for creating engaging images, videos and text to make your event come to life, even before it’s taken place.

In ‘Mastering Facebook for Events’ Southern Grampian Shire Council’s Tourism Manager and Hamilton parkrun Event Director, Diane Barrera, will share tips on how to list your events for free on Facebook, broaden your reach and gain attendees.

In ‘Writing Unbeatable Grant Applications’ Liz will share key tips on how to write strong grant applications, covering exactly how to sculpt your application so the assessment panel can’t refuse.

In ‘Bright Futures: Succession Planning and Event Development’, PFFF Vice President, John Young, will share insights on committee succession planning and on finding and keeping volunteers, so that events can continue to grow into the future.

Southern Grampians Shire Council’s Events Marketing and Development Officer, Stacey Barnes, will wrap up the event by sharing some useful resources and information on how event organisers can seek Council support for their events.

Food, wine and beers by a variety of local businesses plus information and displays from venues and event services will showcase some of the great options we have locally for a range of fantastic events.

Attendance is FREE but you must register your place by May 30th!

CHILDCARE: Council are offering a limited number of subsidised childcare places at a registered daycare centre in Dunkeld to parents/guardians who would otherwise be prevented from attending the forum due to childcare commitments.
