Great Southern Nights presents Pleasure Coma live at Kelly's On King

About this Event

Following the music therapist-endorsed anthem “Comedown Song”, unqualified Sydney brats Pleasure Coma today drops regret riddled love song “Marioki”.

Throughout COVID-19, the world has fallen desperately short of love songs. Not the Romeo & Juliet goldfish-bowl-dwelling type (diCaprio-Danes version). We know how that shit ends. We’re talking the proper, bottom of the gut, unrequited confusion. And not just the once-off rejection. The humiliating, self-confidence shattering, numbing sensation of repeated romantic failure. “Marioki” fills this void with aplomb.

Coffs favourite philosopher Tasker laments, “Marioki is that illusive, unattainable lover. That person that leaves you with more questions than answers…. Not even time passing gives you the answers, just that the questions gently fade. And if they refuse to fade, hopefully some punk rock can silence them”

Led by Coffs-native Tasker, a popular producer/writer for artists like G Flip, Alison Wonderland, Tia Gostelow, Tuka,, Carl Renshaw and more, Pleasure Coma’s second EP Waiting To Die arrives this Friday. Recorded in Melbourne with Tobias Priddle in between bahn mis and casked wine, the EP blends garage sensibilities with bedroom philosophies and bathroom humour. A bit of guitar, bass and drums are splashed on for decorative purposes.

Pleasure Coma comprises 4 upstanding young Centrelink beneficiaries who hail from all parts of NSW. Tasker calls the tiny regional NSW township of Guyra (population 1,900) home . Later moving to Coffs Harbour and now Sydney, the band’s debut EP was recorded entirely in the space under Tasker’s Ikea-inspired raised bunk bed in his Redfern sharehouse (also featured in the “Waiting" video). Reminiscent of early Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day, the band’s eccentricities and energy beautifully colour their DIY approach, whilst always remaining anchored to deceptively carefully crafted songwriting.

Support Act to be announced.

18 + Only. Doors open at 7pm, show starts from 8pm.
