Come along & see what all the fuss is about ! We are so excited

This weekend is a fantastic glimpse into the Hawkesbury section of the 250km Great North Walk. We will trace the many footsteps & journey, exploring the caves, waterfalls, stunning rivers, cliff lines & forests as we make our way from Berowra to Brooklyn.

We will be "POSH " camping ( driving into camp ) at Glenworth Valley. Our campground, is nestled amongst the valley & hinterland of the 3,000 acre historic wilderness property circa 1832, which adjoins the local national parks.

Glenworth Valley features: A range of natural environments from open pastures, lush rainforest, dramatic rock formations and towering ancient eucalypts with the crystal waters and natural rockpools of Popran Creek flowing through the heart of the valley towards the Hawkesbury River. The valley is home to many species of native fauna including wallabies, goannas, king parrots, lyrebirds and kookaburras. Pack free hiking ~ day packs only

EVENT ITINERARY:

  • DAY #1: Berowra Waters to Cowan // Hiking Distance: 7.5km Grade: Hard Elevation: 597m
  • MEET: 8am Cowan Railway Station, Pacific Highway Cowan.

Meeting at Cowan Station we then drive to the Wise Monkey Cafe, Berowra Waters to enjoy a delicious cuppa & do a safety brief, before heading out to the trail head of the Great North Walk at Berowra Waters.

Commencing our hike out of the beautiful Berowra Waters valley the expansive views are spectacular as we cross Berowra Creek & the surrounding valley. Our journey will take us along the many rock formations & creek crossings along the way through this remote & wonderful section of bushland as the track ascends, winding its way up the spur to Cowan.

Finishing our hike, we head out to Glenworth Valley to enjoy our afternoon of relaxing, setting up camp & of course "Happy Hour" with a champagne & canapes. Sharing our campground with the curious local kangaroos & other wildlife which love to join us on our camps. Really special

Dinner set up will be a delicious 2 course affair cooked & served by your guides around a campfire ( depending on fire restrictions)

Rugging up warmly, donning our headlamps we head out to explore the local tracks by moonlight. Such a fantastic experience, deep in the forest, as darkness falls our sense of awareness becomes heightened, you are mindful of every step you take. Returning to camp, it's lights out.

DAY #2: Cowan to Brooklyn // Hiking Distance: 13.4km Grade: Hard Elevation: 654m

Leaving Glenworth Valley behind we head out to Cowan to begin our hike to Brooklyn. This breathtaking section of the GNW does not dissappoint, with its waterviews, stunning ridgetop lookouts & picturesque Jerusalem Bay. Get those cameras out. We will be doing our progressive photography workshop along the way.

Winding our way along the trail & decending to Brooklyn, we complete this section of the Great North Walk & our weekend adventure.

FINISH: 4.30pm approx depending on group pace

  • Your own tent or swag ~ if you do not have one let us know & we can lend you one

What age is this event for?

This is a women's event 18yrs and over

What is the walking pace?

We will be hiking at a slow steady pace, catering for everyone, being mindful of different fitness levels & efforts involved, not rushing to finish, taking care to respect each other. Hiking together, we believe in a group, is the same as being in a team, we make sure all hikers in our group are together keeping each other well supported & safe.

Who is this hike suitable for?

This hike is suitable for those with reasonable fitness who walk (2 -3 times a week ) We do provide a training program. Not suitable for beginners due to grade.

What is the Grade?

This is a grade 4 hard hike due to steep stairs, track steepness, rock scrambling, single track & water crossings.

What size backpack do I need?

Day pack only

Is there any mobile phone reception?

There is some phone reception in the park when hiking, we cannot guarantee this, please check with your provider. Telstra 4G does have reception

Do I need any money?

Yes we will have a cuppa & there will be opportunities to buy some food or drinks not included in itinerary

Do I need to bring alcohol?

Bubbles are included with nibbles. Which is nice to enjoy while relaxing at camp, however we do not recommend drinking more than 1 - 2 standard drinks for safety reasons. You may bring some wine or other beverage of your choice.

What if I have dietary requirements?

No problem. we cater for vegan, keto, vegetarian & gluten free diets. Let us know once you have booked your ticket.

What happens if there is an emergency?

Your professional guide is trained in wilderness first aid. Your guides will carry a first aid kit, have a PLB registered with emergency services & registration with NPWS & Crown Lands.

Our guides carry a topographic map with compass & are trained in wilderness navigation. Each guide is equipped with a 2 way radio & mobile phone .

What is the type of accommodation?

Camping in tents.

Are there toilets & showers ?

Yes & hot showers

REFUND POLICY: T&C's apply

As our adventures are in the outdoors we have contingencies in place for severe weather & track conditions. LFWA group safety is our priority.

Should our event have to be cancelled due to COVID - 19 you will be offered a resheduled date, if you are unable to book that date, you will be given a full refund.

***In the event of severe weather, dangerous conditions, bushfire or NPWS bush track closures due to total fire bans, we reserve the right to amend our event for the safety of our participants.

If we are unable to offer a similar itinerary or need to postpone due to the conditions above, you will be offered an alternative date if you are unable to attend that alternate date you will be given a full refund***

We provide a refund less $220 deposit up to 30 days before event, between 30 - 15 days refund of 30% of total amount will be given.

There is no refund given with less than 7 days notice before event. This is due to catering, accommodation fees & permits which are non-refundable from our end.

You can however transfer your ticket to a friend, you need to notify us if transferring your ticket.
