Event description

Description

The Friends of the Alison Baird Reserve, the Friends of the Brixton St Wetlands & the South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) invite you to visit the 'creme de la creme' flora reserve of the famed Greater Brixton St Wetlands. Do your bit to help us control weeds, bring a picnic afternoon tea to share, and enjoy a relaxing guided flora walk afterwards! The reserve has been owned and cared for, over the course of many decades, by the University of Western Australia. With over 380 native flora species in this 32ha reserve, many generations of UWA Botany students have fallen in love with the flora of the SW WA biodivierity hotspot here. The reserve has always inspired many UWA and international research projects and is more important than ever as a research site. However weeds and other threats are encroaching on the excellent condition Banksia Woodland and Claypans Threatened Ecological Communites in this reserve.

Participant numbers will be limited (and no pets please) as conservation is our top priority at this Free Event.
