Event description
Join us for breakfast to discuss Australia’s largest and most valuable natural asset, the Great Barrier Reef.

About this Event

Tourism and Events Queensland together with Tourism Tropical North Queensland invite you to join us for breakfast and hear from a panel of representatives of the reef; educators, scientists and tourism experts who share a passion for our greatest natural wonder.

The Great Barrier Reef is home to one of the world’s most complex and uniquely diverse ecosystems. Our tourism industry has an important role to play in connecting visitors to the reef and presenting the values of the UNESCO World Heritage area to the millions that visit annually. Research shows that the strong connection tourists feel to the reef after visiting translate into positive intentions to help with environmental issues, which is an important outcome for the reef’s long-term health.

Join the discussion facilitated by Mark Olsen, CEO, Tourism Tropical North Queensland and a panel of reef representatives, including:

  • Kai Ostermann, TEQ International Director, Europe
  • Wendy Morris, Chair, Tourism Tropical North Queensland
  • Dr David Wachenfeld, Chief Scientist, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority
  • Kiana Saltarelli, Master Reef Guide, Mike Ball Dive Expeditions
  • Eric Fischer, Master Reef Guide, Reef Magic
  • Doug Baird, Environment Compliance Manager, Quicksilver Cruises

Registration opens: 7:00am - light breakfast provided
