Session 1 - WAG - How changes to the Code impact on the WAG ALP - AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY

Presenter Bio:

Trisha Hade

Trisha is currently the National Judging Coordinator for Gymnastics Australia. She has been an FIG Brevet Judge since 1992, having judged at the 2020 Tokyo & 2016 Rio Olympic Games, 7 World Championships and 4 Commonwealth Games. Trisha is a WAG Advanced Silver coach and currently the Manager of High Performance for Gymnastics Queensland.

Session Description:

Changes to the FIG WAG 2022 - 2024 Code of Points that will be incorporated into the ALP rules for WAG Level 7 - 10 will be outlined.

Session 2 - WAG & MAG tumbling - double saltos - forwards & backwards

Session Date & Time: Sunday 28th November 9.00am - 10.30am

Presenter Bio:

Rodrigo Caron

Rodrigo has over 18 years experience coaching Men’s and Women’s gymnastics in Brazil, USA and Australia. He placed three athletes on the Brazilian Junior National Team. He has a degree in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy and is an ex-gymnast having competed at a National level in Brazil. In 2018, Rodrigo moved to Australia to coach at Manly Warringah Gymnastics Club, the winner of 2019 MAG National Club Championships. Rodrigo has coached numerous Australian Junior National Champions. He is an FIG Brevet Judge for MAG and was part of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Session Description:

The following areas of teaching double saltos will be covered:

  • creating height in saltos
  • creating rotation in saltos
  • trampoline awareness
  • spotting
  • transfer to the floor

Session 3 - WAG & MAG tumbling - twisting - forwards & backwards

Session Date & Time: Sunday 28th November 11.00am - 12.30pm

  • how to create twisting
  • importance of late twisting action
  • trampoline drills
  • transferring to the floor

Session 4 - WAG & MAG Vault - Tsukahara & Kasamatsu

Session Date & Time: Sunday 28th November 1.30pm - 3.00pm

  • floor drills
  • entry onto the spring board and table
  • creating pop & flight
  • second flight with front flip
  • completing the twisting

Session 5 - Choreographing Beam and Floor routines to maximise your score incorporating changes to the ALP - AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY

Session Date & Time: Sunday 28th November 4.00pm - 5.30pm

Presenter Bio:

Kym Dowdell

Kym is currently the Vice President of the FIG Women’s Technical Committee, having been a member since 1996. She has judged at every Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games in the last 30 years. Kym has a Level 3 FIG Coaches Brevet and a wealth of experience with routine construction and composition from level 7 to Senior International.

Session Description:

With the new Code of Points being implemented in January 2022, there will be changes to the Australian Levels Program. This session will explore how to choregraph beam and floor routines to maximise scores, taking into consideration the changes to the Code and the ALP.

Updating Points:

Two updating points per session will be awarded.
